Guidelines for Student Poster Submissions

The conference theme for Oceans 2006/Boston is "Revolutionizing Marine Science and Technology".  The student poster program at OCEANS is an exciting opportunity for graduate and undergraduate students to present their "revolutionary" research related to a marine science and technology.  The Student Poster Program participants will present their papers in poster format for consideration by a panel of experts. Prizes based on technical merit will be awarded to the best posters.

Guidelines for Abstract Submission

Author acceptance notifications will be sent by end of May. 

Deadlines

Please note the following important dates hold for both regular and Student Poster submissions:

·         Abstracts Deadline: March 31, 2006

·         Author Notification: End of May

·         Travel Grant Application and Advisor Endorsements: June 16, 2006 (5pm EST)

·         Paper Submission: July 15, 2006  

Travel Grant and Advisor Endorsements

Travel Reimbursement

Students participating in the Student Poster Program are eligible for financial assistance to offset travel, housing and registration costs. US students may request up to $500USD to offset transportation costs. International students may request up to $1000USD to offset transportation costs. A complimentary Conference Registration and copy of conference proceedings will be given to all student poster participants. At the conference you will be asked to fill out a travel expense form so that we can reimburse you for approved expenses. You will be responsible for making your own travel reservations.

Housing

Housing will be provided at the conference hotel for those requesting housing, beginning Monday (3pm check in) through Friday morning (10 am check-out time). Students affiliated with schools in the Boston area (<50 miles from the conference center) will not be provided housing. Students will be expected to share a room with another student of the same gender, who is participating in the student poster program. If you would like to share a room with a specific student poster participant, please specify this on the travel form.
